Diecast Cars

There's not a whole lot of Buick Grand National & Regal T-type cars available in diecast. A good representable amount were made, but not as many as were made for, say, the Chevy Camaro Z28 or Ford Mustang.

Racing Champions leads the pack in the 1:64 scale, followed by Johnny Lightning / Playing Mantis. Other contenders are Maisto, Jada Toys / Dubs, Tiger Wheels, Ertl & Hot Wheels finally just came out with one.

Monogram, Herpa & Con-cors made some in 1:87 scale, mostly for Train collectors who wanted to add some vehicles to their displays.

By far, the biggest attraction are the 1:18 scale models done by GMP (AKA Peachstate). 23 Buicks and counting! If you've never seen a vehicle made by GMP, you really don't know what you're missing! Their Buick Grand National models as well as the Buick Turbo T, T type, WH1, WE4, and other Buick Regal cars feature some of the finest highlighting details that can be found on a replica this small. And done accurately, too.

GMP, Monogram, Revell, Danbury Mint & Jada also made these Turbo Coupe in 1:24 scale.

Black, obviously, is the most popular color that the Buick Regal Grand National came in (and the only color, although some people have painted theirs a different one), but don't forget to add some of those Regal T-type into your collection for a splash of color in that sea of darkness!

If you'd like to see some of the 1:64 scale models that were made, you can click the below banner to be taken to the diecast page on this website.

sources

There are many, many places online to acquire Buick merchandise. Some of the more obvious ones you probably are already looking at (Ebay, etc.). Of course, these obvious ones means everybody else is looking there too. Translation = high prices. Among my own searches, since I'm a collector too, I have found some out-of-the-way sources to occasionally pick up a few goodies. But being that these aren't highly popular (which is good for us), they don't always have what we are looking for (Turbo Buick merchandise!). Add them on your "watch lists" and check them regularly as you never know when they'll have exactly what you want! Some are a good source for you to unload some of your own items that you'd like to get rid of.

Here's a few:

Collectibles

It's Bad! It's Black! And it's a Buick! Buick Grand National. Made in 1984, 1985, 1986 & 1987. Those are the black ones. There was also a Grand National made in 1982, with only 215 produced, in a 2 tone gray/silver. The 1987's are the most popular, along with being the most produced of any of the years. But let's not forget about the T-type, Turbo T, and Limited, available in a variety of colors, just as fast (perhaps faster since lightweight parts are on these ones), and priced less than a GN. Any Turbo Regal you choose is the right one! If you don't understand this, you haven't been to "the dark side."

Many model cars are available for the collector replicating this awesome vehicle! And that is what this blog is all about! Collectibles! There's lots of blogs, forums and what-not for the real car, but few about the diecast automobiles, and other related collectible items connected to this mean musclecar (books, posters, pins, keyfobs, license plates, etc.). I will be sharing some of these items with you, answering your questions, showing you some sources where you can obtain merchandise, and lots more, so stay tuned!
